Description
This lot features a collection of 263 rounds of .22 Hornet centerfire ammunition from several prominent manufacturers including Winchester, Peters, and Remington. The assortment contains two boxes of Winchester Super X Varmint & Predator 46 grain jacketed hollow point ammunition, with one provided in a modern vertical box and the other in a flat box containing a white styrofoam tray. Also included is a vintage yellow and blue Peters High Velocity box for 45 grain soft point cartridges and two vintage brown cardboard Remington Arms Co., Inc. boxes from Bridgeport, Conn. these Remington boxes are marked for 50 cartridges of 22 Hornet soft point from Lot RA 5018 and 22 Hornet metal case from Lot RA 5001 respectively. A blue plastic Berry’s Mfg storage case contains a mixed selection of fifty cartridges. Verbatim markings found on the packaging include Winchester Super X Varmint & Predator 22 Hornet 46 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point, Peters High Velocity 22 Hornet 45 Grain Soft Point Bullet, and Remington Arms Co., Inc. 50 Cartridges 22 Hornet. Observed headstamps on the brass casings include W-W SUPER 22 HORNET, P P 22 HORNET, R-P 22 HORNET, PETERS 22 HORNET, and REM-UMC 22 HORNET. The ammunition appears to be live.
Condition report:
The ammunition cartridges are in generally good condition, with modern rounds displaying bright brass and the vintage rounds exhibiting a natural darkened patina and light surface oxidation consistent with age. Packaging condition varies across the lot; the modern Winchester boxes show light shelf wear, while the vintage Peters and Remington cardboard boxes show significant wear, staining, edge fraying, and some tearing to the flaps. The plastic storage case is in good functional condition.
