Description
This Winchester Model 74 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, featuring a 22 inch barrel. The rifle is constructed with a blued steel barrel and receiver, paired with a one-piece walnut stock. A defining characteristic of this model is its internal tubular magazine, which is loaded through a circular port located on the right side of the buttstock. The firearm is fitted with original iron sights consisting of a front post and an adjustable rear notch. Verbatim markings on the barrel specify MADE IN NEW HAVEN. CONN — WINCHESTER — MODEL 74 — / — U.S. OF AMERICA — — TRADE MARK — 22 L. RIFLE —. Both the barrel and the receiver are stamped with the Winchester WP proof mark inside a circle, and the serial number 245013A is clearly visible on the left side of the receiver. The buttstock is finished with a checkered metal buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued steel finish on the barrel and receiver shows significant thinning, a moderate surface patina, and areas of scattered oxidation consistent with age. The walnut stock is structurally sound but displays various minor dings, scratches, and general finish wear, including a more pronounced area of white scuffing on the lower rear of the buttstock. The bore has not been internally inspected. The action appears to function correctly, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition.
