Description
This is a single shot tip up target pistol manufactured by the J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company, designated as the Diamond No. 43 Second Issue. Chambered for .22 caliber rimfire, the firearm features a 6 inch round barrel with an aged finish. The pistol is built on a nickel plated frame with a single action external hammer and a spur trigger. The furniture consists of smooth walnut grips with a flared butt, which include a circular wooden plug on the left panel. Sighting is provided by a fixed front blade and a screw adjustable rear notch sight. Key markings on the top of the barrel flat are transcribed verbatim as J. STEVENS A. & T. CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS MASS. U.S.A. The barrel exhibits a dark brown patina consistent with age while the frame shows significant nickel loss. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The frame retains approximately 40 percent of its original nickel plating with heavy flaking and peeling, particularly along the backstrap and the forward portion of the frame. The barrel has a dark brown and gray patina with scattered surface mottling and light oxidation throughout. The bore was not inspected. The walnut grips show minor handling wear and a small circular repair on the left side. The single action hammer and trigger appear to function correctly and the tip up barrel latch holds the action securely.
