Description
This Savage Model 720 Upland Sporter is a recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun chambered for 12-gauge, 2 3/4-inch shells. Utilizing the Browning Auto-5 design pattern, the firearm features a blued finish on the receiver and barrel with a polished bolt. The furniture consists of a checkered walnut pistol-grip stock and matching forend. The barrel is marked SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION UTICA, NEW YORK, U.S.A. MODEL 720 and PROOF TESTED — 12 GAUGE — 2 3/4 INCH CHAMBER — with an SP proof mark inside an oval near the breech. The receiver is extensively engraved with scrollwork and game scenes; the left side is marked SAVAGE and UPLAND SPORTER THREE SHOT above a scene featuring birds and a pointing dog, while the right side displays three ducks in flight. It is equipped with a brass bead front sight and has been fitted with a Pachmayr White Line ventilated rubber recoil pad. The serial number 103353 is stamped on the underside of the receiver forward of the loading port. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun is in good overall condition, exhibiting wear consistent with field use. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver remains largely intact, showing light handling scratches and some thinning at the edges. The walnut stock and forend show typical scratches, small dings, and compression marks throughout, though the checkering remains defined and the wood is free of major cracks. The added Pachmayr recoil pad shows minor signs of aging but remains supple. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, although we have not function-tested this firearm.
