Description
This is a large hand-forged butcher knife featuring a long, single-edged carbon steel blade. The blade is constructed with a straight spine and a distinct curve toward the tip, showing visible evidence of hand-forging through its irregular surface texture and dark patina. It is a full tang construction, fitted with two dark-stained hardwood handle scales. The handle is secured by five brass pins and includes a large, flush-mounted circular white-metal inlay on each side near the bolster. A lanyard hole is drilled through the butt of the handle. This tool is characteristic of frontier-style or vernacular blacksmith-made cutlery from the late 19th to early 20th century.

Condition report:
The knife is in good antique condition with signs of age and historical use. The carbon steel blade has a dark, mottled patina with scattered surface oxidation and pitting. The cutting edge shows multiple sharpening marks and small nicks. The wooden handle scales are well-worn and smoothed from use, showing minor age-related shrinkage and small stable cracks near the pins. The overall construction remains solid.
