Description
This Savage Model 99E is a lever-action rifle chambered in the popular .300 Savage cartridge, designed as a durable and reliable field firearm. The rifle features a 20-inch blued barrel that displays several prominent factory markings. Stamped on the barrel are the caliber designation .300 SAVAGE, the number 20, HI-PRESSURE STEEL – PROOF TESTED, and an oval proof mark containing the numeral 9. The top of the barrel indicates production in WESTFIELD MASS. U.S.A. The left side of the receiver bears the model identification SAVAGE MODEL 99E, while the serial number B549130 is stamped on the lower right side. The rifle is stocked in a light-colored wood with pressed diamond-pattern checkering on both the forend and the pistol-grip buttstock, which is finished with a black ribbed plastic buttplate. For optics, the receiver is currently fitted with two Weaver-style scope bases. Please note that the factory front and rear iron sights are missing, leaving an empty dovetail slot on the barrel and an open mounting hole near the muzzle. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish on the receiver and barrel shows thinning and surface wear from handling, with some minor finish loss on the underside of the receiver and around the scope mounts. The wooden furniture shows minor scratches, dings, and impressions consistent with normal use. The factory iron sights are missing. The action appears to function smoothly; however, we have not function-tested this firearm. The bore was not inspected.
