Description
The J. Stevens Arms Company Little Scout No. 14 1/2 is a single-shot takedown rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. This example features a round barrel with a brass blade front sight and a notched rear sight. The rifle is constructed with a blued barrel and a receiver that has aged to a mottled gray patina, reflecting its historical use. The furniture consists of a smooth wood buttstock and a short forearm, terminating in a steel buttplate. A knurled takedown screw is located on the underside of the receiver for easy disassembly. Prominent barrel markings specify J. STEVENS ARMS COMPANY CHICOPEE FALLS MASS. U.S.A. 14 1/2 and LITTLE SCOUT 22-LONG RIFLE PAT. JULY. 2-07. No serial numbers are visible on the exterior surfaces. This Little Scout 14 1/2 model is characteristic of the early 20th-century youth rifles produced by Stevens. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The firearm is in fair to good condition. The barrel\'s blued finish shows significant thinning and scratching, along with scattered areas of light surface oxidation. The receiver and trigger guard exhibit a worn, mottled gray and brown patina with age-appropriate wear. The wood stocks are solid and show numerous dings, compressions, and light scratches throughout from years of handling, but remain free of significant cracks. The action appears to function correctly, although the firearm has not been function-tested or live-fire tested. The bore was not inspected.
