Description
This lot consists of 174 rounds of .22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition contained across four original manufacturer boxes. The collection features two boxes of standard lubricated bullets and two boxes of Hi-Speed hollow point lubricated bullets. These green and tan cardboard boxes bear the iconic red Remington UMC dog-bone logo and identify the manufacturer as the Remington Arms Company, Inc., with operations in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Ilion, New York. Box graphics prominently state that these cartridges are positively non-corrosive and that the bore of a firearm will not rust if these are used exclusively. The cartridges feature brass casings with a stamped U headstamp and lead bullets. End flap codes include R17L, R21L, and R23L. This ammunition is being sold for its historical and collectible value, and we have not function-tested these cartridges.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes exhibit moderate signs of age including scuffing, edge wear, and some small tears. One box corner shows a small amount of clear tape reinforcement. The printed text and logos remain generally clear and legible across all four boxes. The ammunition itself shows tarnishing and patina on the brass cases. Many of the lead projectiles have developed a white powdery oxidation on the surface which is typical for lead bullets of this era. The rounds appear to be in original live condition.
