Description
This is a Belgian-made Browning Superposed Lightning over/under shotgun chambered for 12-gauge 2 3/4 inch shells. The shotgun features blued barrels with a ventilated top rib and a single front bead sight. The receiver is blued and displays decorative scroll engraving on the sides and underside, along with a portrait of John M. Browning. It is equipped with a gold-plated single selective trigger and a manual top tang safety that doubles as a barrel selector. The firearm is fitted with a checkered walnut pistol grip stock and a matching checkered walnut forend. The stock terminates in a brown ventilated rubber recoil pad embossed with the Browning name. Key markings include the serial number 83416 on the tang and barrel lug, and the receiver underside is marked Lightning and BROWNING. The barrels are marked MADE IN BELGIUM and PATENTS No 2.203.378 – 2.233.85 on the left, and BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS Mo & MONTREAL P.Q. on the rib, while the right side is marked SPECIAL STEEL – 12 GA. – SHELLS 2 3/4. Belgian proof marks and choke indicators are visible on the barrel flats. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish shows thinning and wear consistent with regular field use, with notable silvering on the receiver edges, underside, and the barrel contact points. The wood furniture displays scattered dings, compression marks, and light scratches throughout, particularly on the buttstock, though the checkering remains well-defined. The action appears to function correctly and achieves a tight lockup. The bores are bright and clear of pitting. We have not function-tested this firearm.
