Description
This lot comprises four vintage boxes of .22 caliber rimfire ammunition manufactured by the American Cartridge Co. of Kansas City, Missouri. The collection includes one box of .22 Short Non-Corrosive cartridges, one box of .22 Long Rifle Non-Fouling cartridges, one box of .22 Long Rifle Hollow Point Non-Fouling cartridges, and a fourth box with an obscured caliber designation. Each box has a nominal capacity of 50 Superior Cartridges and features a distinctive red and black graphic design with a large stylized letter S and an American Eagle logo. Key markings across the packaging include Superior Cartridges, Fast Flight, and American Cartridge Co. Kansas City, U.S.A. The brass-cased cartridges primarily bear a headstamp consisting of a single capital letter A, indicative of American Cartridge Co. production, though the hollow point box contains two rounds bearing a capital letter H headstamp. The lead projectiles are present in both standard round nose and hollow point configurations and exhibit varying degrees of surface oxidation typical of vintage ammunition.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes are in good to fair vintage condition, showing age-appropriate wear such as frayed corners, creasing, and surface staining, with the box of obscured caliber showing the most significant wear. The ammunition is in good collectible condition with light tarnishing to the brass cases and varying degrees of lead bloom or oxidation on the projectiles. The cartridges appear live and intact; however, they have not been function-tested and are sold as collectible items only.
