Description
This J.P. Sauer & Sohn Western Marshal is a single action revolver chambered in .44 Magnum and imported by the Hawes Firearms Co. of Los Angeles, California. The firearm features a 6 inch barrel and exhibits a high gloss blued finish on the barrel, cylinder, and frame. The grip frame is fitted with textured cream-colored faux-stag resin grips secured by a single screw. Sighting is provided by a fixed front blade and a square notch integrated into the top strap. Key markings include the manufacturer and origin on the left side of the barrel stamped J.P. SAUER & SOHN and MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY along with the serial number 23548/4 and a circled S logo. The right side of the barrel is marked WESTERN MARSHAL over CAL .44 MAGNUM. The right side of the frame bears the importer mark HAWES FIREARMS CO. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA and the serial number 23548/4 is repeated on the underside of the frame. The rear face of the cylinder is marked .44 MAG. to indicate the chambering. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in excellent overall condition, retaining approximately 98 percent of its original high gloss blued finish. There is a very faint turn line visible on the cylinder and minor handling marks consistent with light use. The faux-stag grips are well-preserved with no cracks or significant chips. The bore is bright with sharp, well-defined rifling. The single action mechanism appears to function correctly with positive indexing and a tight lockup, although the firearm has not been function tested with live ammunition.
