Description

This lot consists of 150 rounds of rimfire ammunition contained within three original 50-count cardboard boxes manufactured by the United States Cartridge Co. of Lowell, Massachusetts. The collection includes two boxes of standard 22 NRA Long Rifle Lesmok cartridges and one box specifically labeled as 22 NRA Hollow Point Long Rifle Lesmok. The boxes feature a blue and orange graphic design with a central oval panel marked 50 .22 CALIBRE LONG RIFLE RIM FIRE and MADE BY UNITED STATES CARTRIDGE CO. LOWELL, MASS. The end flaps are printed with 22 NRA LONG RIFLE LESMOK while the hollow point variant features additional orange text. The lower right corner of the front labels bears the mark T-48. Each cartridge is comprised of a copper-washed case featuring a stamped US headstamp and a lead bullet. One box retains a red paper warning label affixed over the top that reads R. A. OUTDOOR CARTRIDGES and provides instructions regarding the higher power of the Lesmok cartridges and their intended use in rifles chambered for 22 Long Rifle.

Condition report:

The three cardboard boxes show significant signs of age and storage wear including surface staining, edge fraying, and corner rounding. Two of the boxes have old yellowed adhesive tape present on the exterior panels. The ammunition inside shows significant white oxidation, commonly known as lead bloom, on the bullet surfaces which is typical for vintage lead projectiles stored in cardboard packaging. The copper-washed cases exhibit varying degrees of surface tarnish and darkening but appear structurally sound. All boxes appear to contain their full original count of 50 cartridges each.
