Description

This lot features 100 rounds of .32 caliber centerfire ammunition manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. of New Haven, Connecticut. The cartridges are contained in two original two-piece green cardboard boxes with orange side labels. The lids display an illustration of a Smith & Wesson top-break revolver and indicate that the rounds are expressly for the Smith & Wesson New No. 32 Caliber Central Fire Revolver. Verbatim markings on the lids specify 50 CARTRIDGES .32 CALIBER. SOLID HEAD. Central Fire. MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CONN., U. S. A. Expressly for Smith & Wesson New No. 32 Cal. Central Fire Revolver. A printed testimonial from Smith & Wesson, dated August 1st, 1898, is present on the side of each box, certifying the uniform quality of Winchester production. Inside each lid is an instructional label stating that in reloading these cartridges, the only primer that can be used is the Winchester Primer No. 1 1/2. The cartridges themselves are composed of brass casings and lead round-nose bullets. Headstamps are mixed within the boxes, with visible markings for W.R.A. Co. 32 S.& W. and U.S.C. Co. 32 S.& W. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.

Condition report:

The boxes show moderate to heavy wear consistent with age, including abrasions, staining, some older tape reinforcements, and notable areas of paper loss on one of the lids. The cartridges exhibit expected age-related oxidation on the lead projectiles and a dark patina or tarnishing on the brass casings. The primers show varying degrees of oxidation. The ammunition appears to be live vintage stock.
