Description
This vintage Speer Bullets promotional ammunition display board features a collection of 88 projectiles mounted on a decorative lithographed backdrop depicting the Lewis and Clark expedition in a winter setting. The collection includes a diverse array of copper-jacketed, lead-tipped, and solid lead bullets across a wide range of calibers, including .223, .224, 6mm (.243), .257, 6.5mm (.263), .270 (.277), 7mm (.284), 30 CAL (.308), 303 CAL (.311), 7.65mm (.313), 32 CAL (.321), 8mm (.323), 338 CAL (.338), 35 CAL (.358), 375 CAL (.375), 45 CAL (.458), 9mm (.355), 38 CAL (.357 and .358), 41 CAL (.410), 44 CAL (.429), and 45 CAL (.451 and .452). The projectiles are organized by caliber and grain weight. Key markings on the face include the orange and black Speer Bullets logo and the text World Leader in Products for Reloading Ammunition. The artwork is signed Woodson in the lower-left corner. The reverse of the board retains a partially torn paper label titled Lewis and Clark, which identifies the artist as Jack Woodson and provides historical context regarding the scene’s location near the Speer plant in Lewiston, Idaho. One projectile is missing from the 220 GR .410 caliber slot. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The display board is in aged condition with visible discoloration, spotting, and staining across the printed surface. The wooden frame shows separation at the corners and general surface wear. The projectiles exhibit varying degrees of oxidation and lead bloom. One bullet is missing from the 220 GR .410 caliber slot on the bottom row. The historical label on the reverse is present but has torn edges and surface loss.
