Lot 26:
Frederic Remington, Mountain Man Bronze Sculpture
Sold for: $625
Description
This bronze sculpture is a reproduction after the original 1903 model by Frederic Remington, titled Mountain Man. It portrays a rugged fur trapper in fringed buckskins and a fur cap, navigating a treacherous, rocky descent on horseback. The composition is highly dynamic, capturing the horse bracing its front legs while the rider leans back to maintain balance, holding a rifle across his lap. The bronze features a dark brown patina with subtle highlights on the textured surfaces of the clothing and animal hide. The piece is mounted on a contoured, polished dark green marble plinth. A brass nameplate on the front of the marble base is inscribed MOUNTAIN MAN on the top line and BY FREDERIC REMINGTON on the bottom line. On the bronze base of the sculpture, there is an incised mark transcription of COPYRIGHT followed by a script signature reading Frederic Remington.
Dimensions: 16″ Long x 12″ Wide x 28″ Tall
Condition report:
The sculpture is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or missing elements to the bronze or the marble base. The patina is consistent and well-preserved throughout.
