Description
This Belgian-made Browning High-Power Medallion Grade bolt action sporting rifle is chambered in the versatile 7x57mm Mauser caliber. Built on an FN-manufactured modified Mauser 98 action, the rifle features a 22 inch barrel with a high-luster blued finish. Extensive scroll engraving is present on the receiver, barrel shank, and scope rings, complemented by gold-inlaid scrollwork on the trigger guard and a gold-inlaid ram head on the floorplate. The firearm is fitted with a highly figured walnut stock featuring a glossy finish, skip-line checkering, a Monte Carlo comb, a rosewood-style grip cap with a white triangle inlay, and a rosewood-style forend tip. Optics include a Leupold Vari-X III 2.5×8 scope mounted on a one-piece base, alongside a hooded front ramp sight and a folding leaf rear sight. Prominent markings include the serial number 3X 19501 on the barrel shank alongside Belgian proof marks, with the barrel also marked CALIBER 7×57 ONLY 3X 19501 and MADE IN BELGIUM. The side of the barrel is marked BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST. LOUIS Mo. & MONTREAL P.Q. and the recoil pad is a Pachmayr White Line model. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in excellent overall condition, retaining approximately 98% of its deep original blued finish with only very minor handling marks visible on the barrel and receiver. The engraving remains sharp and the gold inlays are bright and intact. The walnut stock is in excellent condition with a high-gloss finish and crisp checkering, showing only a few faint surface compressions. While the bore was not inspected internally, the external condition suggests a well-maintained firearm; the bolt action appears to function smoothly and correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The optics are clear with a functional duplex reticle.
