Description
This lot features a full two-piece box containing 50 rounds of Remington-UMC .38 Long Colt smokeless ammunition. The cartridges are central fire type loaded with 148-grain lead round-nose bullets and special smokeless powder. The box is constructed with a plaid-patterned base and buff-colored labels. Primary labels include the model designation .38 LONG COLT SMOKELESS and identify the manufacturer as THE REMINGTON ARMS UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE COMPANY INCORPORATED of the UMC BRIDGEPORT WORKS in Bridgeport, Conn., U.S.A. Side labeling indicates the ammunition is SPECIALLY ADAPTED FOR .38 COLT DOUBLE ACTION AND OTHER ARMS and displays the Colts Patent Fire Arms Mfg. Co. signature and rampant colt logo. Cartridge headstamps are transcribed as REM-UMC .38 LONG and the side of one casing is marked .38 LONG COLT SMOKELESS. Condition report:
The ammunition cases show age-appropriate tarnish and a dark patina, while the lead bullets exhibit areas of white oxidation residue typical of vintage lead. The box labels show shelf wear, edge fraying, and minor staining consistent with long-term storage. There are small tears along the label seams and corners, though all technical text remains clearly legible and the structural integrity of the box is sound.
