Description
This lot features a collection of three boxes of Peters Thunderbolt .22 Short caliber rimfire ammunition, with each box containing twenty-eight cartridges for a total count of eighty-four rounds. The ammunition is housed in blue cardboard packaging characterized by a horizontal yellow band and a transparent oval window that displays the brass casings and lead bullets. The front of each box is marked with the Peters brand name and a DuPont logo, alongside the large blue text Thunderbolt. Additional markings on the face specify Made in U.S.A., Non-Corrosive Rustless Priming, and 22 Short. The side panels are marked 28 Rim Fire Cartridges No. 2265. The reverse of the boxes identifies the manufacturer as Peters Cartridge Division, Remington Arms Company, Inc., Bridgeport, Connecticut. The back panel text also states that these cartridges develop higher speed and greater power than ordinary 22 shorts and advises they should be used in first class arms in good condition. One box is currently enclosed in a modern clear plastic protective wrap.
Condition report:
The blue cardboard boxes are in good condition, showing light edge wear, minor surface scuffs, and faint staining consistent with age and storage. The transparent display windows are intact and clear on all three boxes. Based on visual inspection through the windows, the ammunition appears to be well-preserved with no significant oxidation or corrosion present on the brass cases or the lead projectiles. One box remains sealed in modern plastic film. We have not function-tested this ammunition.
