Description
This Winchester Model 1895 lever action rifle is chambered in .30-06 Springfield, identified by the barrel marking .30 GOV. ’06. This Deluxe Model is fitted with a custom checkered walnut stock featuring a Monte Carlo comb and a buttplate marked Bishop Custom Made by Warsaw, MO. The 24 inch barrel is equipped with a ramped front sight and is paired with a Redfield receiver-mounted peep sight. Key markings transcribed verbatim include the top tang stamped with Model 95 over -Winchester- Trade Mark Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. & FGN. The left side of the receiver bears the manufacturer information Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven. Conn. and various patent dates ranging from Nov. 5, 95 to Aug. 23, 98. The full serial number 409550 is visible on the lower tang above the letter B. The blued finish remains strong on the barrel but shows significant thinning and scattered light surface oxidation on the receiver. The custom walnut furniture displays an attractive grain pattern with crisp, well-defined checkering. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle retains a majority of its blued finish on the barrel, while the receiver shows thinning to a grey patina with areas of light surface oxidation and minor handling marks. The custom walnut stock by Bishop is in very good condition, exhibiting crisp checkering and minor dings from handling. The action appears to function correctly and cycles smoothly, although the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The bore was not inspected.
