Description
This Winchester Model 70 Featherweight is a bolt-action sporting rifle chambered in .270 Winchester Short Magnum (.270 WSM). The rifle features a 24-inch tapered barrel with a high-polish blued finish, which is matched by the finish on the receiver. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases and houses a polished, jeweled bolt body with a knurled bolt handle. The firearm is mounted in a select walnut stock featuring fine checkering, a Schnabel-style fore-end, factory sling swivel studs, and a black Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. Key markings include the left side of the barrel stamped — WINCHESTER ® MODEL 70 270 WSM ONLY — and the right side marked — MODEL 70 – FEATHERWEIGHT — and — MADE IN U.S.A. – BACO, INC., MORGAN, UTAH —. The left side of the receiver is stamped WINCHESTER ® over MADE IN U.S.A. and the serial number 35CZZ14434 is present on the right side of the receiver ring. The rifle appears to be in new-old-stock condition, retaining original Winchester Repeating Arms promotional stickers on the barrel. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in excellent condition, showing virtually no signs of use. The high-polish blued finish is deep and consistent on both the barrel and receiver with no visible thinning, scratches, or corrosion. The bore is bright with sharp, crisp rifling. The bolt action appears to function correctly and locks up tightly; we have not function-tested this firearm. The walnut stock is in excellent condition with sharp checkering and no notable handling marks, dings, or cracks. The recoil pad is soft and well-fitted.
