Description
This set comprises two German-style hunting knives, traditionally known as Hirschfanger, featuring a larger hunting hanger and a smaller secondary knife. Both weapons possess slightly curved, single-edged steel blades terminating in clip points. The larger blade displays crude, hand-incised leaf or feather motifs on the flat, integrating the characters | R | K. A stamped number 1920 appears on the ricasso of the larger blade, matching the inventory number on the accompanying lot tag. The hilts are fitted with polished bone grips decorated with diagonal cross-hatching and are secured with brass ferrules and capped pommels. The crossguards feature globular terminals and a shell-shaped side guard or nagel. Both knives include black-finished scabbards equipped with brass throat fittings and frog studs.

Condition report:
Both steel blades show widespread surface oxidation, graying, and areas of pitting. The hand-incised decorations are somewhat worn. The brass hilt components have developed a dark aged patina with some green verdigris. The bone grips exhibit age-related fine cracking and staining. The scabbards show significant finish wear and scuffs, and both are missing their metal end caps or chapes.
