Description
This Winchester Model 12 is a pump-action shotgun chambered in 16 gauge, featuring a barrel equipped with a factory-style solid sighting rib. The firearm is constructed with a blued steel receiver and barrel assembly, mated to a walnut furniture set consisting of a ribbed wooden forend and a plain pistol-grip buttstock. Key markings on the barrel include NICKEL STEEL — TRADE MARK — WINCHESTER — MOD 12 – 16 GA. and the choke designation of FULL. The left side of the barrel displays an extensive patent list: MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONNECTICUT U.S.A. PAT. JULY. 21. 1896 FEB. 22. JUNE 14. 1898 SEPT. 7. 1909 MAY 17. 24. 31. JUNE 7. 14. 28. JULY 5. 12. 1910. JULY 22. 1913. The matching serial number 83751 is stamped on the underside of both the receiver and the magazine tube assembly, identifying this example as being from 1915 manufacture. The buttstock is fitted with a checkered composite buttplate featuring the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. logo. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The original blued finish shows significant thinning and wear across most surfaces, particularly on the magazine tube and receiver. Visible surface oxidation and minor localized pitting are present on both the receiver and the barrel assembly. The walnut furniture exhibits typical handling marks, including scattered scratches, pressure dings, and surface abrasions consistent with use and age. The bore was not inspected. The action cycles smoothly and the lockup remains secure.
