Description
This Ruger No. 1 Tropical is a single-shot falling block rifle chambered for the potent .375 H&H Magnum cartridge, typically configured for dangerous game hunting. The rifle features a 24-inch heavy-weight barrel with an integral rib that accommodates an adjustable aperture rear peep sight and a ramped front blade sight. The metalwork displays a deep polished blued finish on the receiver and barrel, which is paired with an attractive checkered walnut pistol grip stock and a matching forearm. Functional features include a barrel band with a sling swivel stud, a second swivel stud on the buttstock, a black grip cap featuring a gold Ruger logo medallion, and a factory black textured rubber recoil pad with the Ruger eagle emblem. Verbatim markings on the barrel top include STURM, RUGER & CO. INC., SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A. and a safety warning, while the left side of the barrel near the receiver is marked .375 H&H MAG. alongside a circled PR proof mark. The top of the receiver is stamped RUGER No. 1 and the serial number 133-86961 is clearly visible on the underside of the receiver forward of the trigger guard. Condition report:
The rifle is in excellent overall condition, retaining approximately 98 percent or more of its original deep blued finish with only very minor indications of handling. The walnut stock and forearm are highly well-maintained, exhibiting sharp, crisp checkering and very few faint storage marks. The bore is bright and sharp with clean rifling throughout. The under-lever falling block action appears to function correctly and locks up with precision, although the firearm has not been test-fired. All sights and mounting hardware remain in excellent, functional condition.
