Description
This lot features 80 Rounds of Western Super-X .22 Long Rifle Shot rimfire ammunition. The cartridges are contained in two period boxes, with one containing a full count of 50 rounds and the other containing 30 rounds secured with cotton wadding. These rounds utilize brass cases with a star-crimped nose to contain the No. 12 shot and are designed with a wax coating. The side panels of the packaging state the ammunition is loaded with smokeless powder and non-corrosive priming, specifically adapted for Winchester Model 61 and 67 smooth-bore rifles and other smooth-bore arms suitable for increased pressure loads. Prominent markings transcribed from the boxes include Western Super-X, 22 LONG RIFLE SHOT, 50 RIM FIRE CARTRIDGES, EXTRA CLEAN, and WAX COATED. The end flaps and cartridge headstamps both feature a stylized logo with the word SUPER inside a flared border, positioned above the caliber designation and the product code SX22LRS.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in good condition, with the brass cases showing some age-related patina and minor surface oxidation. The star crimps at the noses remain uniform. The cardboard boxes exhibit significant wear including fraying at the corners, edge tears, and surface discoloration. One box has clear adhesive tape applied to an end flap for reinforcement. The cartridges appear to be live and have been stored in their original packaging.
