Description
This lot contains sixteen antique .45 caliber blank cartridges produced by The Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut, housed in their original two-piece cardboard box. These blank rounds feature solid head brass cases and are identified by their distinctive pink paper wads. Technical specifications include a standard rimmed case design intended for government-pattern firearms of the late 19th century. Verbatim markings on the top label of the box include 20 SOLID HEAD .45 CALIBRE BLANKS followed by the manufacturer name The Union Metallic Cartridge Co., BRIDGEPORT, CONN., U. S. A. The headstamps on the brass cases are marked with U.M.C. .45 GOVT. While the box is labeled for a quantity of twenty, this lot contains sixteen cartridges as specified. The box interior includes a portion of original white fibrous packing material. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good antique condition, with the brass cases exhibiting a natural dark oxidized patina consistent with their age. The pink wads are intact but show typical age-related darkening and surface texture. The two-piece cardboard box shows significant signs of wear, including surface staining, foxing, and fraying at the corners and edges, though the printed label remains fully legible and structurally intact.
