Description
This lot consists of a vintage collection of 29 .32-20 caliber smokeless central fire cartridges manufactured by The Peters Cartridge Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The rounds are housed in a two-piece orange cardboard box originally designed for 50 cartridges. The ammunition features chilled lead bullets and is intended for use in Winchester, Marlin, and Colt’s rifles. Verbatim markings on the box lid include 50 .32-20 Smokeless CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES and identify the manufacturer as THE PETERS CARTRIDGE COMPANY, CINCINNATI, O., U. S. A. with model code 1050. The side panels repeat the caliber and brand, showing the PETERS logo alongside .32-20 SMOKELESS and model code 1051. The cartridges feature brass casings with headstamps clearly marked PETERS 32-20. The interior of the box includes a white cotton filler used to secure the remaining rounds.
Condition report:
The two-piece cardboard box is in fair condition, exhibiting significant shelf wear, tears, abrasions, and clear tape repairs along the corners and edges. The cartridges show considerable age-related wear; the brass casings have developed a dark patina with scattered spots of corrosion, and the lead bullets display heavy white oxidation or lead bloom. While the cartridges appear to be live, they are being sold as collector items only, and we have not function-tested the ammunition.
