Description
This lot consists of 300 rounds of Remington .22 Jet centerfire ammunition, featuring jacketed soft-point bullets and brass cases. The cartridges are organized into six Berry’s Mfg. plastic ammunition boxes, consisting of three blue and three grey containers. A review of the headstamps shows a mix of factory-correct brass and converted brass; one box contains cartridges headstamped R-P 357 MAGNUM, which have been reformed into the .22 Jet bottle-neck profile, while the remaining boxes feature R-P 22 REM JET headstamped brass. The collection appears to be a mix of factory-loaded and remanufactured ammunition, as indicated by handwritten notations on the box lids. Key markings transcribed from the lids and headstamps include .22/JET from 357, 13 GR IMR 4227, 45 GR SP, and FACTORY .22/JET. The jacketed soft-point projectiles are primarily of the 45-grain variety, suitable for the high-velocity requirements of the Smith and Wesson Model 53 revolver.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in good overall condition. The brass cases display a range of darkening and tarnish consistent with age and long-term storage, but appear structurally sound without signs of heavy corrosion or stress cracking. The jacketed soft-point bullets are securely seated; some of the exposed lead tips show minor white oxidation. The primers are all present and correctly seated. The six plastic Berry\'s Mfg. cases are in good condition with functional hinges and lids, bearing various handwritten labels and load data.
