Description
This lot comprises a total of 100 rounds of vintage .22 Hornet centerfire rifle ammunition, divided into two full 50-round boxes. The first box contains Winchester Super-X 45-grain soft point cartridges, product code W22H1, in yellow and blue paperboard packaging. The second box contains Winchester-Western Super-X 46-grain hollow point expanding cartridges, product code X22H2, in red and blue paperboard packaging. Each cartridge features a brass case with a headstamp that reads W-W SUPER and 22 HORNET surrounding a silver-tone primer. The ammunition is organized in 5 rows of 10 cartridges within each box. The vintage paperboard packaging shows moderate shelf wear, including frayed edges, corner crushing, and light staining, with one box retaining a period retail sticker from Olsen Marine for $12.25.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in good condition, with the brass cases displaying a natural aged patina but no significant signs of corrosion or oxidation. The primers are clean and the projectiles remain well-seated. The vintage paperboard boxes show moderate signs of age and storage, including crushed corners, edge fraying, and surface staining. One box has a period price sticker on the side panel. The ammunition is live and being sold as a collector item; we have not function-tested these cartridges.
