Description
This is a Winchester Model 94 lever-action carbine chambered in .30 W.C.F., produced in the immediate post-war era. The firearm features a standard 20-inch round barrel with a full-length tubular magazine secured by two steel barrel bands. The metal surfaces exhibit a blued finish that shows significant thinning and wear, particularly on the receiver and magazine tube, which have developed a mottled gray patina along with areas of light surface oxidation and minor pitting. The furniture consists of a smooth walnut straight-grip stock and a matching forearm, both displaying various handling marks, dings, and scratches consistent with regular field use. It is equipped with a hooded ramped front sight and an adjustable sporting-style rear ladder sight. The stock is fitted with a checkered steel buttplate. Key markings are clearly visible on the left side of the barrel, transcribed as MADE IN NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA. —WINCHESTER— MODEL 94 – 30 W.C.F. and —WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL— TRADE MARK —. The barrel and receiver also bear the Winchester proof mark consisting of the letters WP inside an oval. The serial number 1384474 is stamped on the underside of the receiver forward of the lever. Condition report:
The metal finish shows significant thinning and honest wear throughout, with the receiver having transitioned mostly to a smooth gray patina. There are scattered areas of light surface oxidation and minor pitting present. The walnut stock and forearm are in good overall condition, showing numerous dings and scratches from handling but remaining free of cracks or significant repairs. The bore was not inspected. The lever action appears to function smoothly and the hammer engages correctly at both half and full cock, though the firearm has not been function-tested or test-fired.
