Description

This Winchester Model 64 is a lever-action rifle chambered in .30 W.C.F., commonly known as .30-30 Winchester. It features a 24-inch barrel with a half-magazine tube and a receiver finished in bluing that has transitioned to a mottled brown patina with areas of surface oxidation. The rifle is equipped with a smooth walnut semi-pistol grip stock and a matching forend, the latter of which features 14 small notches carved into the underside. Sighting is provided by a hooded ramp front sight and an adjustable Lyman-style receiver-mounted peep sight; the rear barrel sight is missing, leaving the dovetail slot empty. A leather sling is attached via the included swivels. Prominent markings on the barrel include WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL — MODEL 64 — WINCHESTER — 30 W.C.F. and the manufacturer address MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. The upper tang is stamped WINCHESTER TRADE MARK MADE IN U.S.A. and the serial number 1162431 is clearly struck on the underside of the receiver. Proof marks consisting of a PW in an oval are visible on the top of both the barrel and receiver. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The exterior metal finish shows significant thinning and has aged to a mottled brown patina with scattered surface oxidation and light rust throughout the receiver, barrel, and lever. The walnut furniture is structurally sound but exhibits various dings, scratches, and compressions consistent with heavy field use, including 14 small notches carved into the forend. The action appears to function correctly, though it has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The bore was not inspected. The rear barrel sight is missing from its dovetail. The attached leather sling shows significant cracking and age-related wear.
