Description
This lot comprises a total of 467 rounds of rimfire ammunition from the Western brand distributed across ten original cardboard boxes. The collection features two boxes of Western Xpert .22 Long Rifle, including one specifically marked as Standard Velocity under product code XP22LR. Also included are seven boxes of Western Super-X .22 Long Rifle, consisting of three boxes of hollow point cartridges with product code SX22LRH and four boxes of standard rounds with code SX22LR, as well as a single box of Western Super-X .22 Long cartridges with code SX22L. Verbatim markings on the yellow boxes include the Western script logo, the red X branding, and banners labeled XPERT in blue or SUPER in white, along with the text Rim Fire Cartridges and caliber designations. End-flap markings clearly display the product codes and caliber specifications for each variant. Visual inspection of the ammunition reveals two distinct headstamps: a diamond within a parallelogram and a large X with the word SUPER centered across it. The cartridges feature brass or nickel-plated cases paired with lead round nose or copper-washed bullets. This group includes a mix of full and partial boxes to reach the verified count of 467 rounds.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes are in fair to good condition, showing varying degrees of shelf wear, edge fraying, staining, and some minor corner tears, most notably on the box containing the .22 Long cartridges. The ammunition exhibits age-related wear, with several individual rounds demonstrating significant surface oxidation on the cases and white lead blooming on the lead bullets. The copper washing on some projectiles shows discoloration and minor corrosion spotting. While the cartridges appear to be live, their reliability for firing cannot be guaranteed due to visible oxidation and the age of the lots.
