Description

This Benjamin Air Rifle Co. Model No. 700 is a multi-pump pneumatic, gravity-fed repeating air rifle chambered for .177 caliber (BB) projectiles. It features a dual-tube barrel assembly with a pull-pump rod and circular knob located at the muzzle, and is configured with a separate wooden forestock and smooth wooden buttstock. The receiver is constructed of brass and houses a bolt-action loading mechanism. Sights consist of a fixed front blade and an adjustable rear notch. Key markings include the left side of the brass receiver stamped BENJAMIN FRANKLIN along with a circular maker’s mark containing BENJAMIN AIR RIFLE CO. ST. LOUIS USA SINGLE SHOT REPEATER and NO 700 PATENTED. The circular rear end cap is further stamped BENJAMIN AIR RIFLE CO. ST. LOUIS USA, BENJAMIN, NO 700, PATENTED, and 25 SHOT REPEATER. The right side of the receiver is marked COCK HAMMER TO RELEASE SAFETY, and the underside of the barrel assembly specifies AIR HOLE DONT OIL. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.

Condition report:

The brass receiver and barrel assembly exhibit overall tarnishing and light surface scratches consistent with age. The steel trigger, trigger guard, and bolt handle show a dark patina with areas of surface oxidation. The wooden stock and forestock show moderate wear with various dings, scratches, and finish loss throughout, though they remain structurally sound. The bore appears to have a dark patina, which is typical for air rifles of this age. The multi-pump action and bolt appear to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
