Description

This lot consists of a pair of antique all-metal 12 gauge shotgun shells. The first round is constructed with a solid brass casing and is headstamped WINCHESTER No 12. It is loaded with 00 buckshot, as indicated by the tan paper top wad which is stamped with 00 B inside a circular border. The second round features a copper-colored metal casing with a headstamp marked 12 and a distinct geometric maker’s mark consisting of a stylized character within a square. This shell is capped with a translucent white top wad showing purple printed characters that appear to include the number 100. Both shells are representative of the all-metal ammunition used during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, predating the widespread use of paper and plastic hulls. The primers in both casings appear to be intact and unfired. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.

Condition report:

Both ammunition rounds exhibit a natural aged patina with visible surface tarnish, light oxidation, and minor scuffing consistent with age and storage. The brass and copper-colored finishes have darkened over time. The primers are present and appear unfired, suggesting the rounds remain in a live state. The paper and translucent top wads are intact and securely seated, although the purple ink on the second shell\'s wad is partially faded and illegible.
