Description
This lot consists of 80 cartridges of .30-06 Springfield caliber M1909 blank ammunition, divided among four cardboard boxes, each containing 20 rounds. Manufactured primarily at the Lake City Ordnance Plant, the collection includes three boxes still sealed and one box opened for inspection. The cartridges within the open box display a variety of headstamps, including LC 52, LC 54, WRA 53, WRA 54, and WRA 55, indicating production by both Lake City and Winchester Repeating Arms during the early 1950s. The primers on these cartridges feature various colored sealants including red, green, and purple. A single spent brass casing is also included, showing the distinct necked-down crimp mouth design characteristic of the M1909 blank. Verbatim markings on the boxes include 20 CARTRIDGES, BLANK, CALIBER .30 M1909, LOT LC 13266, LOT LC 13369, DANGEROUS WITHIN 20 FEET, and LAKE CITY ORDNANCE PLANT. One box has a red-bordered adhesive label covering its original lot information with the handwritten text M1909 BLANK.
Condition report:
The four cardboard boxes exhibit age-appropriate shelf wear, including surface staining, minor abrasions, and soft corners. Three boxes remain factory sealed, while the fourth box is open with a full tray of cartridges. The brass cartridge cases show varying degrees of surface tarnish and oxidation but remain structurally sound. The ammunition appears to be in live, original condition.
