Description
One vintage 1 lb (16 oz) rectangular metal container of IMR 4831 smokeless rifle powder designed for handloading. The orange-painted can features white graphics and a red screw-top lid. The front of the container displays the IMR logo inside an octagonal border and identifies the product as IMR 4831 Smokeless Powder followed by the warning Danger! Extremely Flammable. Additional front markings include Formerly Supplied by DuPont and Net Wt. 16 oz. (1 lb). An aged adhesive price sticker from Bi-Mart is located on the upper right corner. The reverse side contains safety and storage instructions along with an illustration for the IMR Handloader’s Guide for Smokeless Powders. Bottom markings on the reverse specify Manufactured in Canada for IMR Powder Company Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12901. This lot consists of one individual powder container.
Condition report:
The metal container shows signs of age including scattered minor surface scratches and small dings to the orange finish. Light surface oxidation is visible on the exposed metal rims and crimped seams at the top and bottom. The white lettering and graphics remain clear and bright. The screw lid is present and appears functional. The internal powder has not been tested for quantity or chemical stability.
