Description
This is one Winchester Model 290 semi-automatic rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle cartridges. The rifle features a 20.5-inch blued steel barrel paired with an under-barrel tubular magazine. The receiver is finished in black and houses a bolt with a distinctive engine-turned or jeweled finish. The furniture consists of a two-piece wood stock and forend, both decorated with impressed checkering in a stylized diamond and lightning bolt motif. Sighting is provided by a ramped blade front sight and an adjustable leaf rear sight. The buttstock is fitted with a black plastic Winchester branded buttplate and a white spacer. Key markings include the barrel designation verbatim — WINCHESTER ® 22 S., L., OR L.R. — MODEL — 290 ® followed by MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. and a circled W proof mark. The serial number B1006520 is stamped on the underside of the receiver. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good overall condition. The blued finish on the barrel and magazine tube shows light handling wear and minor thinning at the muzzle. The black finish on the receiver exhibits moderate scratching and edge wear, particularly on the top and sides. The engine-turned finish on the bolt remains mostly bright with some light surface oxidation. The wood stock and forend show minor scuffs and handling dings, but the impressed checkering remains crisp. The plastic buttplate shows significant finish wear and scuffing. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The bore is bright with strong rifling.
