Description
This carved wooden novelty wall plaque is hand-carved from a single plank of highly figured hardwood, exhibiting a prominent wavy grain pattern characteristic of curly maple on the reverse side. The wood is finished with a warm, medium-brown stain and a semi-gloss sheen. The plaque is designed in a rustic folk art style, featuring incised and black-painted lettering on the left that reads I’LL DO ANYTHING FOR A BUCK. The right side contains a recessed rectangular panel with a detailed relief carving of a walking male deer with multi-point antlers. The piece is mounted with two metal screw-eye hangers along the top edge. A small white rectangular adhesive label printed with the number 23661 is located in the upper right corner of the reverse. An incised mark resembling a numeral 7 or a backward letter L is present on the lower-left corner of the reverse side.

Condition report:
The plaque is in good rustic condition. It shows natural, age-related horizontal drying cracks, also known as checking, consistent with solid wood construction. A notable horizontal crack runs through the upper section of the recessed panel containing the deer carving, with corresponding drying cracks visible on the reverse. The finish exhibits minor surface scuffs and light wear consistent with age and previous display.
