Description
This lot consists of 98 centerfire rifle cartridges organized into three distinct groups, featuring specialty precision calibers and vintage sporting rounds. The collection includes 81 rounds 6mm ammunition, divided between two calibers. The first group comprises 50 cartridges in a blue MTM Case-Gard plastic box; although the interior lid is marked for 6mm PPC with 100-grain soft-point bullets and H322 powder, the brass is headstamped Winchester 7.62×39, indicating the cases have been reformed for use in a 6PPC chamber. The second group contains 31 cartridges in another blue MTM Case-Gard box, identified by handwritten notes as 6mm BR loaded with 100-grain bullets and H322 powder; these rounds are headstamped REM 6 MM BR. Both 6mm groups utilize pointed soft-point projectiles. Completing the lot are 17 rounds of 6.5mm ammunition in a worn Norma cardboard box. These rounds are 6.5x54mm Mannlicher-Schönauer (MS) caliber, featuring round-nose bullets with silver-colored tips. Verification of the headstamps on these rounds shows NORMA Re 6.5×54 MS, and the bottom of the cardboard container is stamped with the numerical sequence 90622181.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in various states of condition consistent with long-term storage. The brass casings exhibit overall tarnish and surface discoloration. The 6mm PPC rounds show localized areas of green oxidation and verdigris near the case mouths. The pointed soft-point bullets show minor oxidation to the exposed lead tips. The Norma cardboard box is in fair to poor condition, showing significant edge wear, fraying, and staining, though the internal tray remains intact. The 6.5x54mm MS rounds appear to be factory loads with silver-tipped round-nose projectiles in stable condition despite some case tarnish. The 6mm rounds appear to be handloads of varying age. We have not tested the functional reliability of this ammunition, and it is sold for collectible or component purposes only.
