Description
This lot consists of a group of four reloading dies chambered for .257 Roberts, designed for ammunition handloading. The grouping comprises two distinct pairs based on finish and configuration. The first pair features a matte gray finish, consisting of a seating die stamped with “257 R SEAT DIE” and a sizing die with an integrated decapping pin stamped with “257 ROBERTS SIZ DIE”. The second pair features a bright chrome-plated finish, consisting of a sizing die with an integrated decapping pin stamped with “257 ROBERTS SIZ DIE” and a seating die stamped with “257 ROBERTS SEAT”. All four dies are constructed with standard 7/8 inch-14 external threading, heavily knurled adjustment bodies for a secure grip during setup, and split-ring locking collars. Two of the locking collars are secured via slotted screws, while the other two utilize hex-socket set screws.
Condition report:
The two matte-finish dies display light surface oxidation and a dark patina within the recessed areas of the knurling, consistent with age and storage. The two chrome-plated dies remain bright with minor handling wear, light surface scratches, and faint oxidation on the steel adjustment threads. The external threading on all four pieces is clean and sharp with no significant dings or cross-threading. The decapping pins are present and appear straight. The locking collars and adjustment threads function smoothly, and all components appear physically sound, though they have not been mechanically tested on a reloading press.
