Description
This lot consists of two US military M2A1 steel ammunition containers used for the transport and storage of small arms cartridges. Each container is constructed of heavy-gauge carbon steel with an olive drab green finish. Both cans feature a top-opening hinged lid with a heavy-duty carrying handle, a rubber gasket for a moisture-resistant seal, and a tension-clamp latching mechanism. The first container is embossed on the side with 98, M2A1, and S.C.F. for Standard Container Fabrication. It features yellow stenciled markings for 100 .50 caliber cartridges, linked with 4-ball M33 and 1-tracer M17 rounds. The lot number LC-98H613L059 identifies production at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in 1998. The second container is embossed on the side with S.C.F. and features yellow stenciled markings for 840 5.56mm M855 cartridges on 10-round clips in bandoleers. The lot number LC-88C082-347 identifies production at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in 1988.

Condition report:
Both items are in good military surplus condition. The olive drab finish shows characteristic signs of field use, including scuffs, scratches, and minor surface oxidation. Surface rust is present on the metal hinges, latching hardware, and lid seams. The mechanical latches are functional and the interior gaskets appear to be intact.
