Description
This item is a British Ministry of Defense heavy-gauge steel ammunition transit case, originally manufactured for smoke-screening grenades. The box is finished in service-brown paint and features a top-opening lid with a wire-loop latch and a central folding carry handle. The side of the case features detailed yellow stenciling that includes NATO Stock Numbers 1330-01-020-0504-G815 and 1330-99-964-7973. It is marked for GRENADE LAUNCHER SMOKE SCREENING RP UK L8A1 with a date code of 2/80, indicating a packing date of February 1980. The stenciling further identifies the Ministry of Defence Sales Organization and provides an address at St. Christopher House, Southwark Street, London. The lid includes stenciled hazardous material identifiers including UN-SER-NO 0303 and cautionary text reading SMOKE GRENADES HANDLE CAREFULLY and KEEP FIRE AWAY. A white adhesive paper label has been applied to the lid, identifying the contents as 1000 rounds of .45 ACP pistol ammunition.

Condition report:
This ammo can is in good, used military surplus condition. The original brown paint exhibits typical field wear including scuffs, scratches, and paint loss on the lid edges and carry handle, resulting in light surface oxidation. All stenciled information remains legible. The added paper label on the lid is partially peeling. The internal seal is present and appears functional.
